Providing resources, support, and life-changing opportunities to all that visit us
Contact Us TodayHello, my name is Stephanie, a Tacoma Hilltop resident who spent the early part of my life running through
the streets of Hilltop, an area once ruled by the gangs. Seeking support, family and acceptance,I joined the
gangs. I took from my community. Recovery comes in many forms and mine was formed by the desire to return what
I took from my community, which I still call home. Today, I work for Multicultural Child and Family Hope
Center (MCFHC), including the Tacoma Recovery Center/Café,which are sister agencies. I provide healthy meals
for the MCFHC children, who live in the same Hilltop neighborhood, who’s parents encounter the struggles of
low-income, social economic challenges that impacted my mother, a single parent.
Mornings start with
assisting the children to school and preparing a healthy breakfast and lunch, before starting my day at the
Tacoma Recovery Center/Café where I prepare and serve healthy lunches and dinners. Additionally, 7 days a
week, I prepare and deliver meals to Tacoma City Micro/Tiny Homes, homeless community. With time permitting, I
deliver meals to homeless individuals sleeping and walking those same hilltop streets that created this path
of purpose though meal preparation and delivery. Working at the Tacoma Recovery Center/Café, we understand the
importance of community and partnership. I give gratitude to the agencies that provide the food donations that
allow the Tacoma Recovery Center/Café to provide healthy meals and allow me to return what was once taken.
Thank you.
